Flymo

The Flymo electric hover mower was invented by Karl Dahlman. In 1964, Dahlman was inspired by Sir Christopher Cockerell’s Hovercraft machine and developed the mower. “Flymo” is a brand name of Husqvarna AB, a Swedish company that was previously a division of Electrolux. The mower looks like a standard petrol-powered rotary push lawnmower, but it uses a fan above the spinning blades to allow the mower’s body to hover over the lawn. While producing comparable results, the mower’s design made it more maneuverable and easier to push than traditional wheeled petrol mowers.
